As the Anniversary of the very first I*EARN International Teachers Conference is currently underway in Puerto Madryn, Argentina, I note, with sadness, the passing of Lorraine Elliott.

Lorraine Elliot was a public-servant in the truest sense of the word. Lorraine was Parliamentary Secretary for Education in the Victorian Government and was an enthusiastic supporter of our newly formed I*EARN Network and Global Classroom. I met her on a number of occasions [both in Education and my time at Museum Victoria] and her warmth and fierce commitment to education, the Arts and public service more broadly, was clear.

Lorraine was one of the Government’s representatives at the I*EARN Teachers Conference at the University of Melbourne in 1995. She was an enthusiastic and interested advocate for all things education and always encouraged innovation to support the development of innovative learning environments for young people.

Vale Lorraine Elliott
